Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and her Chinese partner Peng Shuai have been out of the Cincinnati Open. In the semi-finals of the women’s doubles, the pair had to face defeat in straight sets. With the defeat of Sania, the challenge of India in the Cincinnati Open has ended.
In the women’s doubles tournament, Sania Mirza and China’s Shuai Peng pair lost to Taiwan’s Hsci Soo-Wei and Romania’s Monika Nislescu in the WTA Tournament. In the match lasted for one hour and 33 minutes, Sania and Peng lost in straight sets, 4-6, 6-7, and were eliminated from the final race.

Sharapova to play wild card at US Open

Russian star tennis player Maria Sharapova has got the permission to come in the wild card at the US Open in the last Grand Slam Tournament of the year. After 18 months of the ban, Sharapova will play for the first time in any Grand Slam tournaments. The American Tennis Association (USTA) have informed about this.

Sharapova played the event before joining the main draw of the American Open 10 times earlier. Last year Sharapova had lost to Carolina Wozniacki in the last 16 years. After losing to Serena Williams in Australia Open last year.  Sharapova did not get a chance to prepare for the Grand Slam Tournament.
At present Sharapova is ranked 148th in the world ranking. The 5-time Grand Slam tournament champion Sharapova was banned from the tennis world for 15 months in the doping case. Sharapova was not allowed to enter the Wild Card this year at the French Open and due to injury.  She was out of the qualifying round of Wimbledon Open. The American Open Tennis Tournament will start on August 28.
